Young & Fearless is a social awareness art show that aims to inspire Canadians to make a difference. To inspire those diagnosed with Cancer to fight and win the battle and to inspire those who have conquered Cancer to support others in their fight.
Young & Fearless was created in 2008 by photographer, Shari Tucker. Shari was asked to participate in a national project called Cancer Connections by photographing one person who had been affected by cancer. In her quest to find the right person to photograph for Cancer Connections, she met two cancer survivors who inspired her into creating her first art show.
As Shari began photographing cancer survivors and learning of their great inspirational stories and encouraging words, she wanted to do more and share more with the world. Shari decided to create a coffee table book featuring photographs of survivors, along with their stories.
A portion of proceeds from the entire project is given back to the Canadian Cancer Society.
For the 2008 year, Young & Fearless was able to make a $600 cash donation as well as donating one canvas photograph valued at $600, for a total of a $1200 donation.
The project was so well received by the public, such an inspirational undertaking, as well as a creative challenge, that Shari has decided to continue the project into the 2009 year. She has also brought together a group of 10 additional creative collaborators to grow this project and help spread the word that cancer can be survived.
Hope you enjoy your stay on our blog!
